22-Jun to 28-Jun 2014

Sun 22-Jun
Lovely fresh strawberries for breakfast, picked straight from the back garden.

Mon 23-Jun
Pottering about on the allotment late this afternoon, look who came to visit. Sammy has a mind like a sieve for anything school related, but razor sharp for anything else. When he lost his remaining arrow yesterday I mentioned I had some suitable sticks up the allotment. So here he is, trailing cousin Connor and mate George the mile from his house to collect.

Tue 24-Jun

Popped round to see beth and Amelia this morning. Surprised the sausage was shy and wouldn't look at us for the first few minutes, not having seen us for over a week. Soon reverted to the usual play. Here she is dancing and pulling funny faces.

Wed 25-Jun
Found a new walk this morning, from Wilhorn Meadow, near The Dolphin, to the Cambridge Busway. Full of mayflies and wild flowers. In this snap we're ambling along the river Great Ouse. And a perfect end to the walk... a first visit to the new Tom's Cakes shop in the St Ives town centre old toll house. Delicious coffee and cakes.

Thu 26-Jun
Golf with John early this afternoon. Disagreement at the 8th about whether his ball had landed in the bunker. The forfeit was for the loser to get down on his knees and admit the other's better judgement. Here's John accepting his fate. I was just off the green in two shots and got par on two out of nine holes to win the day.

Fri 27-Jun
Progress on the back garden redesign... zero! At least the square is looking good, full of all kinds of poppies as well as borage.

Sat 28-Jun
St Ives really buzzing this afternoon. Armed Forces Day, with a spitfire and military vehicles in the centre, choir singing and the town buzzed by a spitfire flying over. Had a snack with Beth, Connor & Amelia after in The Dolphin. Mid afternoon the skies opened and it really poured down for over an hour. 'No problem' says Beth, 'I'm parked by the exit door'. Unfortunately the car park was flooded. Here's Beth and Connor taking the plunge.
