Sun 25-May
Over five hours of working on the allotment today. Managed to get the tomato frames up, plant thirty tomatoes and tie them. Here they are all looking neat and tidy. Brought another six plants home, just in case the allotment supply is wiped out by blight.
Mon 26-May
Ambling around the huge Bank Holiday market in St Ives town centre this morning, came upon Amelia wearing hair clips for the first time, being pushed by her dad, with Connor and Paige. Here's a later photo of her. Growing up so quickly!
Tue 27-May
That's Connor's twelfth birthday present sorted for September. One mention of me taking him to London for a day and he was eagerly on the iMac looking up places to go. Here's the list. Not sure if we'll manage all of Greater London in one day. I'll be lending him my book and map of London. Not sure just how big the final list will be, but it'll have to be an early start that day to fit everything in.
Wed 28-May
Rather proud of this job, fitting Beth's wooden blinds (stage 2, two hours). Awkward to do, since no way of checking measurements easily. Will have to go back for a third session... had to rush off for bowls fixture before 1.00pm. So in addition to leaving the place in a bit of a mess, still to fit valance, take some slats out and fix the faulty up/down mechanism.
Thu 29-May
Breakfast as usual this morning, admiring the Abutilon 'Kentish Belle' out of the dining room window. Been flowering for a month now and will continue right through to November. Continuously dozens of blooms. Brilliant plant. Must see if there are any other varieties at the garden show this coming Sunday.
Fri 30-May
The moment the whole family has dreaded... Paige has a mobile 'phone! She's been wandering around with a dummy model for ages, but with Beth getting a new one, Connor getting Beth's old one, Paige has now got Connor's mobile. Her allocation of £10 credit went on the 'phone yesterday... and this morning she'd used the lot! Not happy she has to wait a month for more credit.
Sat 31-May
After a much needed mow of the allotment grass this morning, managed at last to get cabbages planted in the polytunnel. Fitted 64 in, with space left for broccoli. Still had twice as many cabbages available for planting, so I'll take them down the bowls club to see if anyone wants them.
