18-May to 24-May 2014

Sun 18-May
Here's an update on back garden progress. The square is filling with various plants, mostly poppies. Pepped up borders are filling with perennials. Unfortunately not much sign of the wild flower seeds planted early Spring, and not much progress along the back border.

Mon 19-May
Arrived at Hunstanton just after noon, had a wander into town for lunch. Returned for keys about 2.30pm to find we'd been allocated probably the best caravan we've ever had. Appears new, lounge big and airy, lots of room and wardrobe space in bedroom, and this fantastic view of the lake.

Tue 20-May
Walked a record 15 miles and 33,000 steps today, mostly done along the seafront and back to Heacham. Had lunch at Norfolk Lavender, bought a Balm of Gilead plant. On the way there in the morning the tide was just turning and we watched these plovers dashing in and out from the surf having their breakfast.

Wed 21-May
On the Coast Hopper bus to Holkham for a walk to Wells Next The Sea. Ambled along the footpath, then through the woods to complete the last section along Wells Beach. Almost like walking in a desert, the beach is so huge. Here's a snap looking back along the beach huts, one selling for only £60,000! Had a quiet lunch bought from the local bakery, sitting in the green square at The Buttlands. Bought a couple of really nice Regatta tops for a bargain price of £15 each.

Thu 22-May
Spent the morning shopping in Hunstanton.  A trip to Titchwell RSPB Reserve in the afternoon was cut short by heavy rain, and back safe in the caravan we were treated to torrential downpours and thunder. On our last amble along a deserted seafront, were treated to one of Hunstanton's spectacular sunsets. Click to enlarge.

Fri 23-May

Always sad, returning from holiday. So cheered ourselves up by spending the afternoon visiting. At Becky's I got thrashed by Izzy at drafts, then across to Beth's. Here's Amelia enjoying her chocolate buttons and humming to herself, accompanied (?) by Paige in the background.

Sat 24-May
Rained most of the day, but at least caught up on preparing documents for the Flower & Produce Show. Midday we managed to pop into St Ives for a bit of shopping, with tea and cake at The Dolphin. On the way home had a quick amble around Holt Island. Snapped these amazingly coloured leaves. Not sure what causes them.
