11-May to 17-May 2014

Sun 11 May
Here's a sly snap taken by Beth at the end of a couple of hours of preparing the bedroom Connor & Paige are moving into, ready for wallpapering tomorrow. Taken down TV and bracket, removed twelve decorative wooden squares and filled all the holes. Am I now finishing off some other skilled task? Not quite. Dropped the carton of filler and Beth caught me wiping it all up.

Monday 12-May
Wallpapering day at Beth's. After six hours only got one more strip and a bit to do. Pasting a bit of a challenge. All of a couple of inches elbow room in any direction.

Tue 13-May
Guess what I was doing this morning. Yes, more wallpapering. Couple of hours finishing off the final strips, here's the final result. Then a quick dash to the supermarket for the weekly shopping, before an afternoon of bowls at the twice weekly roll up.

Wed 14-May
An unbelievable start from John at golf this afternoon, with pars on the first and third holes, bogies on the fourth and fifth holes. This had to be the shot of the year on the second. Drove his ball on the wrong side of a line of trees and onto another fairway. His second shot was then hit back over the trees to land within six feet of the hole for a chance of a birdie. Unfortunately he then three putted. My score? Don't ask!

Thu 15-May
All day at Beth's moving the beds around. Had to dismantle her bed to move it in the end, despite much desperate measuring in the hope it would squeeze through the doors. Look what turned up from under her bed... an old snap of me and Connor, him aged about the same as Amelia now. No surprise when I uploaded the snap to iPhoto it thought he was Amelia. These days he's more likely to pick me up.

Fri 16-May
Every time I get anywhere near St Ives Bridge I realise how lucky I am to live here. Here we are wandering across at midday after tea and cake at The Dolphin, watching the swallows and seagulls swoop across the river. The meadow is packed full of golden buttercups, the river calm and teeming with fish.

Sat 17-May
Oops! That wasn't supposed to happen. Walking Amelia around the animal pens at Johnson's Farm, I picked her up for a better view of the huge bull. Before I knew it her shoe caught on the fence and fell into the pen! Luckily there was a pole nearby and I managed to pull the shoe near enough to pick it out. First visit of the year, enjoyable meal with Becky, Beth and families, scorching hot day.
