04-May to 10-May 2014

Sun 04-May
Ambled the walk to Woodhurst this morning in warm sunshine. Particularly colourful border on the path leading up to Woodhurst, full of pink campion and cow parsley.

Mon 05-May
Happy birthday Amelia Brooke Seymour, one year old today! Here she is playing with the push along pram we got her. Lots of food and family to celebrate with. When the cake was brought out, thought she was going to burst into tears... all those people looking at her. After played football with Connor and John, came back knackered.

Tue 06-May

Ambled along the river in Hemingford Meadow this morning. The meadow was bright yellow, full of buttercups. And as we almost reached the turning point there suddenly appeared two swans flying low, heading for St Ives bridge. Magic!

Wed 07-May
Pleased at the periodic check on weight and to ensure nothing new has dropped off or started drooping. Maybe food poisoning three weeks ago, a bad cold and going teetotal have all had their benefits. Lost half a stone. Down to a proper fighting weight and holding at that. Feels good!

Thu 08-May
Wallpaper Man strikes again! Picked a good day to wallpaper Izzy's bedroom, since it rained all day. Took me from 11.00am to 3.30pm to do this and the opposite wall. Daughters amazed it took me so long! Only two to go... Connor's New York wallpaper and Beth's bedroom.

Fri 09-May
Here I am at what is now becoming a Friday evening routine. Escaped a double session of Coronation Street by coming down the bowls club at 7.00pm to cut the grass surrounds for an hour. And it's now light enough for me to squeeze in an hour's solo session before heading home at 9.00pm. Just putting on the bowling shoes ready to start. As usual, had the green all to myself. Had one of my best ever sessions, with 40 out of 72 bowls within one metre of the jack.

Sat 10-May
Paige's big ballet day this afternoon, with us looking after Connor and Amelia for a few hours. Here we are heading up Old Ramsey Road on a four mile trek to keep them occupied. Not sure if Connor stopped talking at any time on the walk. Highlight was spotting a huge Goat Moth larva a bit further down the road.
