23-Mar to 29-Mar 2014

Sun 23-Mar

Off to Huntingdon railway station this morning to see the latest steam train whizzing through. Only Sammy with me, since Connor off to Woburn Safari Park with his little sisters. Afterwards we headed into Huntingdon town centre since Sammy was desperate to look in the Game shop to see if they had Halo 4. Of course we included a browse around the stationery section of Wilkinson's before we headed home with the sweets and pens he'd conned me into buying.

Mon 24-Mar

Hurrah! First day this year sat out on The Dolphin patio for tea and cake. Only just warm enough, but much earlier than last year's 14th April first sit out.

Tue 25-Mar
Managed to squeeze three rounds into this afternoon's pitch & putt session with John. On the third he intended to only play the first hole, but going one up he maintained a lead until the 5th hole and by then we were heading back anyway, so he played all nine. My second round was the lowest of the year, one off the all time record of 29. John managed to reduce his club throwing incidents to just one.

Wed 26-Mar
Sammy joined Connor on a visit this afternoon. Took Jazz for a walk, them riding ahead, waiting for me and commenting on how slow I was. Main topics of conversation was, as usual, swear words, plus the merits of various alcoholic drinks. Pitched up back at our house to much laughing and giggling while we watched Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and had drinks, cheese, toast, cherry pie and yoghurt and McVities chocolate digestive biscuits. Here they are setting off back home. Could hear them for quite some distance down the road.

Thu 27-Mar
Off to Cambridge this morning to watch Les Dennis in The Perfect Murder at Cambridge Arts Theatre. Here he is bemoaning his life while his wife carries on in the kitchen. Very enjoyable. Also a result in clothes shopping... Linda got three sets of trousers from BHS.

Fri 28-Mar
On my way back from the library this morning, popped in to the bowls club to see what the green was looking like. Apart from a few moss patches being treated, looking good. Just over three weeks to go to opening day!

Sat 29-Mar
Popped into St Ives this morning for the opening of the new pontoon on The Quay, and the start of 'The Old Riverport' promotion for this part of the town. Here's the opening ceremony snapped from St Ives bridge  Managed the second cake and tea of the year outside on The Dolphin patio, to the sound of a choir singing sea shanties, then it was off to Becky's for an afternoon BBQ for Izzy's birthday.
