Sun 16-Mar
Couple of classic texts from Becky this evening. The grandsons are striking out and getting more independent!
Mon 17-Mar
Pottering about in the back garden this afternoon, including giving the new wild flower and grass border a watering since we've had no rain for almost three weeks, spotted this seedling. Looks like the first of the seeds to germinate.
Tue 18-Mar
Off to the Norris Museum this evening for a guided tour from the curator. Connor took his most treasured artefacts for examination... one turned out to be an early 20th century statue, a copy of an Egyptian icon and all the craze at that time following the discovery of Egyptian tombs. The other was a small vessel from a Victorian dolls house made for adults. Turned out it was made from lead so we had to bag it up. Highlight of the evening was Connor getting to hold an elephant's foot.
Wed 19-Mar
Next stage of the new pond development this morning. Installed yellow flag irises, blue & yellow tricolour irises, yellow marsh marigold and a white pond lily, all from the old pond. Gave everything a good wash and got frogspawn from the ditch at the bottom of the allotment site to avoid transporting the blanket weed.

Thu 20-Mar
Challenged by Beth this morning to post a glammed up photo on Facebook for Beat Cancer week (women were challenged to post pictures of themselves without makeup). Linda applied the slap. Looks far worse than I thought!
Fri 21-Mar
Popped down to Becky's this afternoon for tea and cake, and to inspect the wallpapers samples for Izzy's bedroom. Good paper, will be easy to put up. No sign of Sam, Izzy playing on the laptop.
Sat 22-Mar
Mega seed sowing day at the allotment today. Loads in the plot greenhouse, and here's the result on the magic windowsill. Courgettes, dwarf, climbing & runner beans, swiss chard, purple mange tout, cucumber, pumpkins and butternut squash. Be beating them all back with a stick in a couple of weeks.
