16-Feb to 22-Feb 2014

Sun 16-Feb

Izzy around for help on her school presentation this afternoon. Over in an hour, then after a few games on the iPad here she is whizzing off home on her bike.

Mon 17-Feb
With the kids off school this week and me a major part of my daughters' occupational planning (i.e. keeping the grandchildren occupied), I'm guessing there'll be a lot of their snaps this week. This morning met Becky and the kids for lunch at The Dolphin. Since she'd cycled down, was going to be a bit of a problem carting back the wood Sammy bought to make something for his brick factory. So here we are meeting them at home after we brought the supplies back in our car. As usual, Sammy had at least two guns on him, just in case.

Tue 18-Feb
Day out with the granddaughters, and Izzy's suggestion we played badminton. With Paige keeping score, and them winning if they got the shuttlecock over the net, got it near the net, hit it on their side or just got anywhere in the vicinity, no surprise I lost 872 - 2. Here's the only one of several snaps I managed to quickly take where at least one of them was almost stationery. Paige has just missed the shuttlecock and gone into one of her dramatic 'falls'. After it was off to McDonalds for lunch... by mid afternoon, with them returned safely, it was a much needed snooze for me!

Wed 19-Feb

After McDonalds for lunch, here's Connor & Sammy on the allotment digging the new pond. Think the major motivation was the possibility of finding fossils for Connor, for Sam, getting a fresh supply of clay for his brick factory. Motivation declined after the worm discovery.

Thu 20-Feb
Here's the Trigger Happy TV large mobile 'phone Sammy constructed overnight to use while we were at the Norris Museum this morning attending their whistles & sticks event with the grandchildren. Managed to suppress him while in there; just as well since it was heaving. But as soon as we got out and were in the busy street he whipped the 'phone out, put it to his ear and proceeded to shout at the top of his voice 'Hallo...'

Fri 21-Feb
Into the greenhouse late this afternoon to start preparing the plants for wake up time. The fuchsias were already budding, the figs as well. Potted up a couple of orange buddleia cuttings. In spite of sunshine, still a bit cold so not long enough out to bring the radio.

Sat 22-Feb
After ambling around the St Ives to Hemingford Abbots 6 mile walk, with a stop off for tea and cake at the Hemingford Garden Room, when we returned to St Ives popped in to view the magnificent snaps at the Photo Club exhibition and wandered around the Italian Market. As we were heading back to the car, what should we see but the advert for Beth's & Chris' house. And they got the asking price offered on it today... yippee!
