Sun 02-Feb
Stacey & John gave us a guided tour of their wedding location this afternoon, Chippenham Park. Here they are posing with the location for the ceremony in the background. Really lovely place and very enjoyable trip. Only 504 days to go to 21 June 2015!
Mon 03-Feb
Late afternoon got a warning text from Becky that Sammy was on his way to collect on the 45p for the brick I'd ordered from his brick club. Here he is a few minutes later with the delivery, slave in tow. Must say I was impressed with the brick... very hard and yes, brick shaped.
Later this evening there was an exchange of mobile texts as follows...
Sammy : Hi gramps about the brick I sent you it comes with a receipt with 25p off a large tile do you want to buy it for 25p. I know good value ha love you ...
Me : Yes please, but can you keep it for me until we go up the allotment. Can you make loads of bricks for a path up there? What discount do I get for 100? X
Sammy : Are you shoor if you are you get £63 off. is this a joke. Looks like the slabs are £1 each so your new discount is £78 ok.
Me : I'll go for the discounted slab at 20p and see what the quality is like first. X
Sammy : Ok
Becky : What have you started! XXX
Tue 04-Feb
Here's Connor and me during a break in this evening's archaeology group talk entitled 'The Archaeological Process - From Planning Application to Full Excavation'. Sounded a bit dry, but was turned out to be a really interesting delivery from a good speaker. Can you spot Connor?
Wed 05-Feb
That's really early! On a wander along The Thicket on a morning more like something out of Wuthering Heights, spotted a blackthorn bush just come into bloom. Loads more with buds nearly out. Must be a good three weeks early. Also spotted a goldcrest and a flock of long tailed tits.
Thu 06-Feb
After Sammy's special offer yesterday evening (see insert above), this slab was delivered while I was out at squash this afternoon. Linda answered the door and, taking pity on the sausage 'cause it was raining, gave him 5 x 20p instead of the single 20p asked for. Then told me I shouldn't be encouraging him??? I'm now confused as to whether this is the 'free' slab or the one I ordered on Monday. Only thing certain is I'm going to be subjected to even more high pressure sales tactics over the next few days!
Fri 07-Feb
Look who came to visit today, while her mummy and aunty were at the local spa beautifying themselves. Just woken up, so bit of a bad hair moment. Notice how, having seen Linda bang a couple of wooden bricks together, she carefully takes hold of a couple near her, does the same and then looks up at Linda to see her reaction.
Sat 08-Feb
Nice evening dinner at The White Hart, the occasion being Dusty's 70th birthday. On walking down to St Ives my wobbly right knee kept giving way, giving Linda the wobbles as well.
