Sun 19-Jan
Tea at Becky's this evening, delicious lamb, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and several veg, followed by apple sponge and cream. Finished the evening with a game of monopoly against Sammy and Izzy. Here they are showing their usual aversion to having their picture taken.
Mon 20-Jan
It might be cold and damp, but on some sunny days there's nowhere better than being on the allotment, Radio 3 playing in the background, pottering around. Here I am arriving this afternoon for a couple of hours digging. Arrived with my trousers on, thank goodness... they're so muddy I keep them in the garage but almost forget to put them on sometimes when I'm about to set off for the plot.
Tue 21-Jan
Job done! The trees outside David's place trimmed back and the leylandii cut right back to ground level. Got a bit fraught as the time approached... David unsure how low to cut the trees, and Linda imagining the permanently parked green Audi getting damaged.
Wed 22-Jan
Sammy accompanied Connor on the weekly visit this afternoon. Bit down in the dumps 'cause he's not getting on with his teacher. Here's the snacks to accompany episodes of Faulty Towers and Time Team... toasted crumpets and cheese followed by tea and chocolate digestives. No prizes for guessing who's got the biggest serving.
Thu 23-Jan
Hurrah! Nine days after planting and the broad beans have started to pop their heads up. First plants of 2014.
Fri 24-Jan
Bought new family history software for the iMac, so here I am this afternoon making sure all the files have transferred across from the old programme, adding all the images to the new files and generally getting used to a slicker way of searching for info.
Sat 25-Jan
On a flying visit by The Seymours, the mango expert was unsure if the seed he'd given me was ready for planting. When we opened the husk there was a slightly damp seed that looked like it had started sprouting, so this is where it ended up... in one of the broad bean pots to see if it will get any bigger.
