22-Dec to 28-Dec 2013

Sun 22-Dec
Here we area at The Dolphin this afternoon for their Christmas carols sung by The Aragon Singers of Buckden. Got there at 2.35pm to book the seats for us, Becky & Barry and Barry's mum & dad. Just as well, it was soon packed. Really enjoyable. Not sure what to do for tea, Linda and I ended up with a Dolphin bar meal. Baked spud for Linda as usual, I had a delicious warm bacon, avocado and brie salad. Walked home after admiring all the Christmas lights.

Mon 23-Dec
Not quite a blank day since we did get out for cake and tea to The Dolphin, but otherwise the highlight of the day was finding another newspaper cutting for the bowls club web site. This one was from 1966.

Tue 24-Dec
The family traditional Christmas Eve trip to The Dolphin for drinks and a chat late this afternoon. Here I am with Izzy, racing each other with mazes I'd printed out to keep her occupied. Trouble was, she was beating me!

Wed 25-Dec
Wouldn't be the same without Beth's Christmas joke present. At least this year it wasn't directly hair related. Here I am at Becky's in the evening playing the butt head game. Sammy & Izzy took great pleasure in repeatedly ripping the balls off my head, to my mock screams of pain. Is that normal, for kids to enjoy inflicting pain like that?

Thu 26-Dec
Walked to Houghton and back along The Thicket path this morning. First river flood of the year, here's Noble's Field with the water meadow flooded in the distance.

Fri 27-Dec
This was the view of the flood meadow from St Ives bridge this morning, on our way to tea and cake at The Dolphin.

Sat 28-Dec
Beautifully calm and sunny on the allotment this morning. First job was to clear up all the broken glass from the damage done to the greenhouse in last week's gales. My DIY door repair failed and once the wind got into the greenhouse with nowhere to exit, several panes of glass were blown out. Must have been with some force, since glass was blown well into next door's plot.
