Sun 29-Sep
Came third at this afternoon's Bowl for Beef at the bowls club, with 29 pts. Geoff won with a magnificent 41pts, way ahead of the second place at 30 points. Was great fun, playing in teams but competing individually, 3pts for the nearest bowl, 2pts for second, 1pt for third, -4pts for ditching the jack. Afterwards the club's AGM took place. Came away armed with loads of old photos for the new web site, click view it click here.
Mon 30-Sep
Spent the afternoon in Ely wandering around the shops, having an early lunch and sitting by The Maltings watching boats drift by. John joined us and scoffed cod and chips as we sat on a pub verandah overlooking the river. Later we went to his house for tea with Stacey to hear all about the wedding venue and date (Sunday 21 Jun 2015) and to entertain Mulder, their green cheek conure parrot. Here's a snap of a muscovy duck, once a common sight in St Ives, but a bit too interested in my ice cream.
Tue 01-Oct
The final acts in the allotment transfer happened today... I put up the fence again separating the two plots, and the groundsman confirmed the back plot can be transferred to Colin. Linda was a bit sad but I was pretty positive about the whole thing, since it took me less than half an hour to mow the front, rather than the two hours to do both plots!
Wed 02-Oct
Well, that's the bird bath sorted! After another trawl around the garden centres early this afternoon looking for something reasonably stylish and not too stupidly expensive, thought about using a pot with tray on top. Liked this square design, and at half the price of a similar proper bird bath it was a no brainer. Just need to make some more progress on the last half of digging so I can order the gravel.
Thu 03-Oct
Here's Jasmine looking particularly seasonal against the autumn leaves on our walk out this afternoon... sure that dog is going to wear his nose out. Was aiming to take Sammy with me, but when he got back from school and I called him with the invite he was gathered around his laptop with Connor, George and Henry, playing Minecraft. No chance of wedging him away from that!
Fri 04-Oct
On my three weekly spell of peace and tranquility and my visit to St Ives library, what did I espy but a display for the St Ives Archaeology Group. And besides photos which included me and Connor at the geophysics survey of The Priory gardens, look who's name was mentioned under the April 2013 activities!
Sat 05-Oct
Popped across to Beth's this evening. Connor and Paige came tumbling downstairs to see who was visiting and I spent time with each hearing what they'd been doing during the day. Then popped in to see Amelia almost dropping off to sleep with her glow light playing soothing music, creating a magical atmosphere.
