Sun 22-Sep
After another bowls session with Robert & Andrew in the morning (more detail of that to follow), here we all are gathered at The Wheel Inn for Sunday lunch. Linda and me had a wander in the woods to the north of Scone in the afternoon before taking some sandwiches back to mum's house.
Mon 23-Sep
Robert was kind enough to takes us with mum to Pitlochry for the day to see dad's grave and have lunch at the golf club. And in the evening there was more grand eating, with proper chicken kiev at Robert's house. Must weigh myself when I get home!
Tue 24-Sep
Back home by late afternoon and round to Beth's for Connor's 11th birthday party. Here are the grandchildren in their usual feeding frenzy, including Amelia.
Wed 25-Sep
Linda and me took Connor to the Houghton & Wyton Historical Society monthly meeting this evening, where Dr Turi King of Leicester University, the lady who did the DNA analysis on Richard III, gave a fascinating speech about the project. How did such a titchy society get a world famous expert to do a talk? She's the daughter in law of the chairwoman.
Thu 26-Sep
Ambled along the Thicket Path this morning and through the fields towards Houghton Mill. Here's the view across The Ouse to the church at Hemingford Abbots. Unfortunately the Mill cafe is shut on Thursdays, so had hoof it back to the car without any tea, soup or cakes ~:0(
Fri 27-Sep
Plugging away this evening either side of 'phoning mum, while Coronation Street was on, putting the finishing touches to the bowls club web site. Was asked by the membership secretary if I'd do them one a couple of weeks ago and got a good amount of positive feedback after the first draft as well as photos and stuff to add to the site. Looking forward to getting my hands on their minute books, which are currently with the solicitors and date back to 1908, so I can catalogue their history over the winter months.
Sat 28-Sep
During a long and sunny day on the allotment, noticed just how colourful the front plot is, with sunflowers, cosmos, snapdragons and nasturtiums all fully in flower. Managed to burn all the remaining scrap wood and pallets and finished off repairing the compost bin sections.
