15-Sep to 21-Sep 2013

Sun 15-Sep
A wonderful afternoon at the bowls club finals' day. Although Geoff and I lost our club pairs final, we pushed our worthy opponents right to the final end (of 18) to lose 14-16. Great atmosphere, with loads of spectators viewing and applauding good shots. Here's a snap of the awards table just before the presentations.

Mon 16-Sep
Popping around Beth's to do the cats while she's away in Spain, noticed Connor's birthday list strategically placed on the arm of the settee, visible as I entered the living room. Helpful, but we've already got him his present. Don't hold out much hope for his listing for a paintball gun, but I think I'd like the book of treasure hoards in the UK as  well!

Tue 17-Sep
Almost goodbye back plot. Finished the clearing, just got to burn some wood I've got no use for. Will ring Roger the groundsman when I get back from Scone to arrange transfer of the plot to Colin. Sad about losing the pond, but excited about making a smaller new one on the front plot, and having much more time to weed, till and keep things really tidy.

Wed 18-Sep
Down the bowls club having a desperate last solo practise before Friday's match against my brothers in Scone, had a look at the awards board for the club pairs competition Geoff and I lost in the final on Sunday. If I'd played like I did today we would have won. The words of the song 'It shudda bin me' echoed through my mind.

Thu 19-Sep

Arrived by train in Perth at 5.00pm and after a quick freshen up we walked to Scone for tea at Chez Roberts. Always a special meal, this time braised beef with apple crumble to follow. Special!

Fri 20-Sep
First of the weekend's bowls battle. Robert & Andrew had pulled in John Anton to make up a foursome. John is only the club singles champion as well as being the Perthshire County singles champion for the last two year's running, so was no surprise Andrew and I lost handsomely. What I did notice was how well Robert was playing... a sign of danger to come! A link to more detail to follow here.

Sat 21-Sep
Here we are at Stormontfield beach, half way through a 12 mile walk. Only stopped for  few minutes before heading back to Scone... didn't realise it was so far! After having a good chat with mum, another treat in the evening with Thai salmon at Robert's.
