Sun 14-Jul
After an agonising wait of three weeks, at last activated the iPhone 5, inserted it into the Vaultskin sleeve and transferred cards and cash. Here it is all set up, everything I ever need to carry with me.... other than no signal yet since I've got to get Three to activate the SIM card. At least can now declutter my trouser pockets of credit card wallet, camera and diary. Still have to carry around two 'phones until the number is transferred.
Mon 15-Jul
Spent a few hours on the allotment into early afternoon, mostly spent watering. Beth and Amelia joined us so we set up the loungers and some shade by the pond. Getting used to the new iPhone, so here's a panoramic photo of the back plot with Beth reclining in the middle. Very pleasant relaxing and having lunch... and feeding/burping Amelia!
Tue 16-Jul
Sports day for Connor, Sammy and Paige this morning, meaning lots of running around in the hot sun for me to ensure maximum coverage. Here's Sammy ready for the quoit on head race. He's currently not into wearing shorts or short sleeved shirts, but in spite of that he looked the coolest kid around! Told him to imagine he had a chicken on his head, which seems to help.
Wed 17-Jul
Ambled from Earith along the Forty Foot Drain this morning, which disappears into the horizon straight as a die for about thirty miles. Wonderful day to walk in the countryside, with loads of skipper moths feeding on thistles. After had a cream tea in the newly opened Old Riverview Tea Rooms in Earith.
Thu 18-Jul
Bit of an obstruction during our walk early this afternoon along the River Cam in Cambridge to Stourbridge Common, admiring the river boats permanently moored for accommodation along the way. Linda's not too keen on killer cattle, but no risk of these going on the rampage because of the heat. Wandered up to Dunelm to see John working, then back into Cambridge centre.
Fri 19-Jul
Playing our pairs quarter final this morning with Geoff, the A team captain wandered by just as I bowled a wood with the wrong bias right into the side gully. Oops! 'Here's a couple of things that are spare, if you don't want any just return them' he said. Turned out to be a club top and waterproof previously owned by Jon Cross, the club treasurer who passed away a few weeks ago. Must have cost best part of £100. Feel quite touched.
Sat 20-Jul
Look what popped through the letterbox this morning... the tickets for me and John to see England v Scotland at Wembley on Wed 14-Aug. Kings Cross and every pub in London will be wall to wall with sporrans. Only downer is David couldn't make it. Must buy that Scotland flag.
