Cambridge Garden Show today, with Becky picking us up at 10.15 to ensure full use of her child-free time. In the crafts & food tent Paige was taken with a hair grip that made her hair into a bun. One purchase later and here she is, hair done up.
Off to Hunstanton for a few days. Here's the caravan allotted to us, brand new! Managed keep up the tradition and maim myself within a short time of gaining access. Usually it's spacial awareness a couple of inches shorter than my actual height that causes the problem, as last year when I brained myself getting up from making the bed, nearly knocking myself unconscious on a cupboard edge. This year, having caught my finger under the bed head and scraping a large piece of skin off, I then proceeded to unwittingly bleed all over the bedcovers.
Walked along the sea front to Heacham this morning, the tide out and hundreds of birds feeding. Perfectly timed for lunch at Norfolk Lavender and prime position on one of the sunny picnic benches in the herb garden. Here's the food... great jacket potato and salad.
Trip to Wells Next The Sea today, with a walk to and around the grounds of Holkham Hall. Purchased this clockwork rodent to have fun with the grandchildren. Named him Bash. Fear his existence will be short and violent when I introduce him as 'Bash the rat'.
Walked from Brancaster Staithe to Burnham Market, crossing the salt marshes to watch avocets, egrets, oyster catchers and a spoonbill. Called in at the church at Burnham Overy Town to make an entry in their visitor's book and read our entry from last year. Passing by the market cross, noticed this flint cottage with amazing entry, called 'The Images', is still for sale. Apparently the columns were part of Holkham Hall's original Temple "The Seat of the Mount", designed by William Kent (1685-1748) and who worked at Holkham Hall from 1735 until his death. The Temple was swept away in the 19th Century, and it's a mystery they found their way to The Images! At £275,000 for two bedrooms I'm going to need the premium bond to come up trumps.
Back home from holiday, and round to Beth's to find Amelia so much more attentive as well as a couple of pounds heavier! And here's her first recorded smile at four weeks and five days old.

Well, there it is in the diary... my first competitive bowls match on Monday at 2.30pm. Can't help feeling I'm being done up like a kipper. My opponent had previously mentioned how busy he was playing for the club teams. Calling him today to arrange a definite time and day, this time he slipped in he'd been down the bowling green this morning helping to cut the grass.
So here's me, not touched a bowl for three weeks and only played three full games, taking on a seasoned club player. Doesn't sound good, does it? He'll be mentally rubbing his hands with glee when he sees me turning up with my bowls and shoes in a supermarket bag!
