17-Nov to 23-Nov 2013

Sun 17-Nov

Five and a half hours on the allotment with Sammy today, me trying to get the greenhouse glazing finished (and failed), Sammy doing everything from pottery making to bow and arrow shooting. Here he is helping tidy the allotment (don't tell his mum he was tidying voluntarily!), putting the plant waste on the hedgehog house.

Mon 18-Nov
Amelia holding my finger during a tea and cakes session at The Dolphin with Beth and Chris this morning. Even more smiley, having got over her recent cold.

Tue 19-Nov
More progress on the greenhouse glazing on a bright but cold morning. Now down to cutting and fitting plastic panels to replace the glass I broke... the two darker panels visible in the greenhouse roof. In between fittings managed to trim the path and start on straightening the other side. It's an indication of just how neat and tidy this plot is going to be.

Wed 20-Nov
Over two hours in Becky's downstairs loo this afternoon, wallpapering all of two short pieces. Had to get imperfect though, to match the rest of the Buckingham Palace standard decor. Is very nice.

Thu 21-Nov
Robert's 60th birthday today. Had a chat on the telephone before he flies to Prague for a celebratory weekend. As always, made me laugh out loud. The spring Scone visit can't come soon enough.

Fri 22-Nov
Just sticking a piece of glass over the broken pane to complete the  allotment greenhouse roof late this afternoon, the sun setting to the west. Now only got to fix the door and a small triangular section  for which I've got no glass.

Sat 23-Nov

Took Connor and Sammy to see the Tynesider train steam through Huntingdon station, they were well impressed. Afterwards we went to Castle Hill and climbed up and down the remains of the motte and bailey castle.
