Sun 25-Aug
Popped down the bowling club this evening for some solo practise. No-one about so had the green all to myself. Pretty obvious nobody had played all day since the grass had a covering of worm casts. Equalled my last and best ever result, though for a time it looked like I was going to beat my record easily.
Mon 26-Aug
Snooker with David at The Legion this evening, with a narrow win to me. Here we are behind the ex-Woollies building eating our chicken wraps, David having his on the hoof. Then off he cycled home to walk Jazz before bed and a 5am start tomorrow, I returned to The Local Cafe for some spicy spuds for Linda before cycling back.
Tue 27-Aug
A particular honour tonight, with both John and David home for tea. Thought David might claim squatter's rights to the reclining chair, but John arrived earlier and took the throne. As soon as their mum went out of the room there was the usual releasing of pent up wind. After the film somewhat appropriately heard the sound of a hot air balloon. Here it is, right overhead.
Wed 28-Aug
Rushing around today, including the last meeting of the Show team at The Dolphin. Here's the usual set of scribbled notes to action. After wandered around to the bowls club in the hope of catching the club captain picking the team for the last league game. Obviously no decisions to make since their were only a few straggling members finishing their drinks ~:0(
Thu 29-Aug
When helping take down Becky's conservatory last Saturday, saved the bolt ties from going to the dump. Sure they'll come in useful for something. And here's their first use, as content for my Show photo on the theme of 'Shapes'. Thought they were quite attractive in an abstract way.
Fri 30-Aug
The evening before the Show and time to select what to put in as exhibits. After some careful picking late afternoon on the allotment, here's the selection to choose from. The abstract artwork and photo have yet to be framed, a 6.00am job tomorrow morning, and the sunflowers are in a jar of water.
Sat 31-Aug
This is what makes all the early mornings, late evenings and general worry if everything is going to turn out right... my two little granddaughters taking 1st and 2nd place in the Children's Section of the Flower & Produce Show. Izzy won for the second year running, but only on a count back since both her and Paige got the top scores with ten points each. Here they are being awarded certificates and stuff by the Mayor and the chairman of the Amenities Committee. Connor and Sammy were a bit glum about their scores, but brightened up when they were able to buy loads of plants at knock down prices.
