30-Sep to 06-Oct 2012

Sun 30-Sep: Wandered around a classic car display on Hunstanton green this morning. Among the usual collection of Fords, Minis, Morris Minors, VW Caravanettes etc there was an elegant red 1970s Lotus Elan, big graceful Bristols, a lovely MG Magnette and a beast of an MG ZT V8 with a 4.6 litre mustang engine. But the one I lusted after was this VW Karmann Ghia... beautiful and streamlined.

Mon 01-Oct: Off on one of our most favourite walks this morning, to Norfolk Lavender for lunch. And here's one of the most interesting parts of the walk, when the footpath disappears into a dark cavern of vegetation. Linda's silouette can just about be seen against the opening at the far end.

Tue 02-Oct: Took best part of an hour and three buses before a driver told us the bus to Wells-next-the-Sea we were awaiting for didn't go by our stop, having altered with the winter timetable. So changed plans and during a wander along the cliffs and up to Old Hunstanton scanned the beach for fossils or stones for Connor's collection. This is the best I could do... don't think he'll be too impressed!

Wed 03-Oct: Another attempt to get to Wells by bus... successful this time, although the bus crammed as usual. Sure we were the only fare paying passengers. Beautiful day, took some snaps of likely watercolour scenes, this one a favourite.

Thu 04-Oct: Off to the RSPB reserve at Titchwell this morning, loads of dragonflies as well as this evil looking sabre wasp. Also saw a bittern flying straight towards us, a marsh harrier, and most unusual of all a pair of spoonbills, one of only four pairs in the UK!

Fri 05-Oct: Back down the sea front to Heacham this morning, braving the wind on our way to another lunch at Norfolk Lavender. Sea pretty lively... loads of foam from the waves racing in.

Sat 06-Oct: Always a bit sad returning from holiday, but a sunny coffee and cake outside at The Dolphin, an invitation to dinner tomorrow from Becky and a visit from Beth and family soon brightened things up. Here's the reading tally for the week... managed to finish the three on the right.
