23-Sep to 29-Sep 2012

Sun 23-Sep: After two partially disastrous pitch & putt events earlier in the year, at last got my putting under control. Here's the result from this morning's rounds, after which Andrew, Steven and me had a great lunch at the Axe & Compass.

Mon 24-Sep: Connor's 10th birthday today and here's the first ever text that arrived this afternoon from his new mobile 'phone. In fact, I had the honour of being the first one he texted! First of many, no doubt.

Tue 25-Sep: During a spell on the PC this evening thought I'd try Google Street View to amble down the street my dad spent his childhood in, with the intention of going there in person. Felt sad to see there was nothing left of the tenements he knew, all knocked down and replaced by a park and industrial units.

Wed 26-Sep: In anticipation of the next Apple purchase, the latest iMac (when Apple decides to announce next upgrade), the study's been getting a bit of a tidy. This afternoon it was new foam padding, spare curtain material and wood staining for the chair. Looks pretty smart... can't believe we threw the other three of these chairs away some time ago.

Thu 27-Sep: Off to Cambridge Arts Theatre for their matinee performance of Relatively Speaking. One of the best plays we'd seen, two hours of very funny, great dialogue. Felicity Kendal was superb. In a packed theatre I'm sure we were the youngest there.

Fri 28-Sep: Not able to make the St Ives in Bloom presentation yesterday, got a call this morning to come and pick up my gong from the Town Council. Here it is... surprise, surprise, a nicely framed certificate (plus £25 of gift vouchers). Think the silver award means I came second (again!). The judges only took into account the back plot, not realising the front plot with all the vegetables and water butts was also part of the scheme, so that's not a bad result.

Sat 29-Sep: After complaining about getting the same caravan on our last two holidays in Hunstanton earlier in the year, here's our allocation just having moved in. On the newish section of the park, with a big open kitchen and living area. Unfortunately showing signs of wear, with stained carpet and cushions... might be trying a flat or B&B next year.
