02-Sep to 08-Sep 2012

Sun 02-Sep: Around Barry's parents for a BBQ this afternoon. Really envious of their garden... lovely tubs and borders, large trees and paths leading off to hidden spots. And four (yes, four) sheds! Had great fun playing Jerries and Commandoes with Sam and Izzy, each of the male adults taking a turn and shedding up to 50 years. Here's Dusty gunning down his grandchildren.

Mon 03-Sep: This year, with the grandsons let loose, I've often peered down the long path looking for them. Today for the first time there they were... Connor on his way back from the newsagents, Sammy on his way up. Here they are rushing up after I called them, Sammy in front, Connor in blue a bit behind.

Tue 04-Sep: Here's me having breakfast 7:00am at Huntingdon train station, fried egg sandwich and tea. The egg unfortunately had an industrial strength yolk, but having just walked from one end of Huntingdon to the other hauling all the camping kit it was sorely needed. On my way up to Newcastle, and then to the Northumberland coast in Terry's car, for our annual two day walking trip.

Wed 05-Sep: After an easy walk yesterday afternoon, crab sandwich for lunch en route, an interesting walk back across fields in the dark from the pub tea and a cold night with every piece of clothing on, this morning we drove across the tidal causeway to the Island of Lindisfarne. Wandered around beautiful isolated beaches, collected stones and fossils, visited the castle photographed here from the village and had a pub lunch. Magical walk.

Thu 06-Sep: Better get cracking soon on replacing the pagoda shelter for the chickens before one of them gets squashed!

Fri 07-Sep: Something tells me fate is willing a big win for me when Andrew and Steven visit in a couple of weeks time for a repeat of the pitch & putt, chess, darts and pool competitions. This morning at the library this chess book almost forced itself into my hands, and in the afternoon I was one shot off the all time record for nine holes at pitch and putt against John. Posted the image to Facebook and tagged Andrew and Steven just to put the willies up them.

Sat 08-Sep: New chicken pagoda completed, miraculously without drilling through any part of my anatomy or squashing any digits with the sledgehammer!
